What To Look For When Buying Michael Jackson Memorabilia

Filed under: Michael Jackson — Tags: — Mark Turgeon @ 10:07 am
by Mark Turgeon

If you are looking to begin collecting Michael Jackson memorabilia, it can be a bit overwhelming. Like any collection, what you can buy will depend on your budget and your own personal interest.

Without wanting to sound too morbid, the value of signed pictures and other items often goes up at this time. A day after the death of Eval Knievel, a signed framed photograph almost doubled in price. Sadly, this also means opportunists can cash in, claiming authenticity.

When buying the product, check the quality beforehand. If you cannot see a picture, then it is probably not worth pursuing. Check the terminology people use as well. Mint condition should mean a clean, unopened product. Good condition may mean it has been used but is still whole and complete. If the dealer is reputable, they should let you know if there is any clear damage to report.

With any collection, the question of authenticity will inevitably come up. If you are purchasing from an online dealer, be very careful. A certificate of authenticity is meaningless unless it is backed by an official body like ABTAL. Some celebrities only use certain licensed dealers, often adding to the value of their signatures.

Dedicated signatures are only of personal value, so if you have one keep hold it yourself. Cut signatures are something to be careful of as well. These are signatures taken from another source, like a dedication or a letter. Another thing to be wary of is pencil signatures. These are actually worth purchasing, as they are less likely to fade over time and will hold their value!

Michael Jackson has created numerous kinds of dedication, such as cross stitch patterns or stones with his picture on them. There is a whole variety of purses and handbags, with designs that cover his entire career.

Given the eccentric nature of this unique performer, this is reflected in the kind of memorabilia that can be purchased. In a recent auction, you could buy a robot head from the 1988 film Moonwalker, or a set of gloves bejeweled with Swarovski crystals.

More disturbingly, there are some rather more morbid items available on sale, such as flowers that were placed on his grave. This is part of a worrying trend and it is unlikely such items would have long term value.

The reason you should know a fair price is that you get an idea how much is reasonable. If it is much more expensive than you expect than it is not worth purchasing and you are being ripped off. If it is a lot cheaper than the odds are you are buying a fake.

With the right knowledge to hand, you can begin creating your own personal collection. While they may have sentimental value, like any product you should shop around to make sure you get the best possible price for the highest quality available. In short, this is your chance to own a part of music history that stretches back decades. What is more surprising is that it is the work of one man.

Learning About Michael Jackson Dirty Diana

You don’t get hailed as the King of Pop because you weren’t any good at writing songs. You get a title like this because you have so many hits that it becomes hard to count them all. Such was the case with Michael Jackson, who had a ton of hits and many more near hits than most popular people have hits. One such hit was Michael Jackson Dirty Diana.

You should really take a few moments to consider the impact that this song had on people. Through the course of this particular article, you can get a pretty decent introduction to the track and determine the various reasons that people assume it was written. Additionally, you can get a source of information straight from the artist to detail why the song was written.

You should understand that there are numerous different theories that are floating around about this song. However, it might not be easy to suggest that all of these theories make sense. With this being said, the most commonly accepted theories are labeled here. While they might not have been the subject of the song itself, it does not mean that these theories are completely unfounded.

Really, the theories surrounded a few different women. Most commonly, this woman was the famed Diana Ross. It was speculated by many that Michael Jackson was in love with Ms. Ross as a teenager and it was not reciprocated. Out of his anguish surrounding this, he wrote the song about her. This being a way that he could immaturely take a stab back at the diva. Other theories suggested that Ross was all over Jackson to his dismay over his worldwide fame.

Still more theories have suggested that this song was somehow about Diana, Princess of Wales. There are not a lot of people that have really backed this theory as being relavent or true, as Jackson would have had little to nothing to do with Princess Diana. Moreover, he would have had no reason to be so slanderous towards someone else that he hardly interacted with.

Jackson actually spoke about this song, if nothing else to contend with some of these wild theories that were surfacing. He suggested that the song really referred to hysterical groupies backstage that were always trying to get at him. He didn’t write the song about one in particular, as the name Diana just seemed to fit the feel and cadence of the track as it was.

This was a similar approach made by an earlier Jackson track “Billy Jean”. While that song suggested the groupie had a baby of his, or didn’t rather, this particular song suggests more of the without limits and without inhibitions approach that many women had while being around Jackson and his group.

Bad became one of the best selling albums of all time with the help of Michael Jackson Dirty Diana. This was the fifth song on the album to go number one on the charts, which was a feat that was rarely duplicated since.

The Truth About Michael Jackson Dirty Diana

Filed under: Michael Jackson — Tags: — Mark Turgeon @ 7:34 am
by Mark Turgeon

Michael Jackson first emerged on the music scene as part of the Jackson Five back in 1968 and progressed to being considered among the most famous and best selling solo recording artists of all time until his untimely death in 2009. Of the many chart topping songs by Michael Jackson Dirty Diana remains one of the most popular, and continues to gain radio play across the globe.

The song was written by Michael Jackson and produced by Jackson and Quincy Jones. It is the fifth single from Jackson’s 1987 album Bad and was released as a single by Epic Records in April 1988. In many ways it is a landmark single as it was Jackson’s tenth US Billboard Hot 100 number one single, and a record breaking fifth consecutive number one from the Bad album.

While most of his songs are poppy in nature, this is the second of only a few hard rock songs he has composed. Billie Jean from the 1982 thriller album was the first. Diana has a moderate tempo of 104 beats per minute, and is performed in common time in the key of G Minor.

Unlike some of his later videos, the music video for Diana was something of a low budget affair. Directed by Joe Pytka, the seven minute long video was filmed in front of a live audience as Jackson performed in his Bad World Tour. Although simplistic in nature, the video won numerous awards including Number One Video In The World at the 1989 World Music Awards.

The song is supposedly about a female groupie who has an unhealthy obsession with Jackson and will not let anything or anyone put a stop to her disturbing pursuit of him. This has been confirmed in several interviews with the singer, although many alternative theories about the meaning of the lyrics still exist. As a song topic, this is not a new area being explored as on earlier single Billie Jean, a female groupie is also the main subject. Several theorists agree that Diana and Billie Jean are in fact one and the same woman.

Another theory about the true meaning of the song is that is actually about pop legend Diana Ross. Ross and Jackson were close friends and there has been speculation that the friendship was once more than just platonic. The song may have been inspired by this relationship, but this has never been confirmed.

Another early rumor which was quickly quashed was that the inspiration for the track was Diana, Princess Of Wales. It late emerged that the song was a favorite of Diana, Princess Of Wales who was disappointed to find out at a Wembley concert in 1988 that it had been omitted from Jackson’s set list in case it caused her offense. After she had revealed her love of the tune it was reinstated on future play lists

Given his hugely successful career as both a Jackson Five member and a soloist, it is a fact that Jackson will be forever remember as a true pop legend. When looking back at the musical highlights of Michael Jackson Dirty Diana will certainly be remembered as one of his greatest songs.

Why The World Needs To Hear Hits Like Dirty Diana

Michael Jackson is perhaps one of the most impressive people to have ever written and recorded music. His music has spanned many generations and most of his songs have become modern day classics that are familiar to a great number of people. Even today, people still crave a chance to listen to his classics, songs like Dirty Diana, because they fill a spot in music that is rarely hit so sweetly.

When he was just a little boy, the king of pop began his career with a famous group of five family members who could each play instruments and sing songs. The band produced so many hits that they became one of the most popular mo town bands to have ever existed. One of the most important aspects of this amazing band was the voice of young Michael, which seemed to be coming from a man who was years ahead of his age.

All five of the children eventually grew up, so the band dissolved, and this led to different career paths. Michael took the path of a solo career in music, and he became even more successful than his previous band. He wrote unique singles that soared to the top of the charts and then remained at a high spot for many months.

Turn on any radio to almost any music channel featuring nearly any genre, and one is likely to hear a hit single by the king of pop. This is because he recorded music that is still accessible to all sorts of audiences today. The classics are both timeless and of a great depth of quality that is hard to match.

Modern music pays much homage to the great songs like Thriller, Beat It, and Dirty Diana. These songs are still featured at dance halls, music clubs, on the radio, and even in many shopping markets. They please the ear, please the heart, and intrigue the mind. They are musically and lyrically challenging, in all the right ways.

There really are not too many other musicians who approach the level of success that Jackson achieved. A cursory internet search will produce many facts that attest to his litany of accomplishments. Even sporting arenas blast his music to excite elated crowds during sports events. His music seems to know no boundaries.

People still regularly listen to Michael Jackson even though he has passed on, and stopped recording new music years ago. His music has outlived him because it is legendary, which is the greatest compliment a musician can ask for. The staggering results his music has had on listeners is still noticeable today.

And this is perhaps the most amazing feat that the man captured during his career. He is the best selling musician in the history of the world. He did not compose music only for English speaking people. His music knew no national boundary. Even people who could not understand his words, understood a message through the melodies and the music.

People still rue and mourn the passing of the legendary king of pop. Fortunately, his music will live on and on because it was recorded when he wrote it, unlike many famous classical music composers who lived in an era that could not record music. His records are still selling, and with good reason as they are accessible to almost any person who enjoys pop music, and this is why one will still hear great classics like Dirty Diana on the radio to this day.

The Iconic Funeral Of Michael Jackson

Filed under: Michael Jackson — Tags: — Mark Walters @ 2:58 pm
by Mark Walters

In March 2009, Michael Jackson announced his final ten shows at London’s O2 Arena, but demand forced the residency to be extended to fifty nights, to commence on July 13th 2009. However, on June 25th 2009, the world stood still as news spread that Michael Jackson had died after a suffering cardiac arrest at his LA mansion.

Internet search engine, Google, shut down as it interpreted the sheer volume of searches for “Michael Jackson” as an automated attack; and, within a few hours of the news breaking, the King of Pop was back on top of the charts thanks to radio airplay and downloads.

Much speculation has arisen over the star’s physical health for such a mammoth tour, and whether this was to blame for the cardiac arrest, although rumors are rife of murder, overdose and still being alive. Only time will tell.

A private funeral service was held on July 7th at Forest Lawn Memorial Park’s Hall of Liberty, after which there was a public memorial service at the Staples Center in LA, which was the location that he was rehearsing for his London shows at. The public showed up in huge numbers to pay their respect, and over 30 million people also watched on TV.

A musical artist alone, however good they were, would not be able to cause such a wave of emotion. It was what Jackson did to make the world a better place in general, such as launching his ‘Heal The World Foundation’ and supporting countless other charities, that was the cause of this almost unprecedented public response.

Various musical superstars, from past and present, who had been involved in Michael Jackson’s life sang tribute songs, whilst non-musical acquaintances gave moving eulogies. Perhaps the most notable line to come from the many said was by Reverend Al Sharpton, who told Jackson’s children - “There wasn’t nothing strange about your daddy. It was strange what your daddy had to deal with”.

Michael’s 11-year-old daughter, Paris, cried as she told the crowd, “Ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine”.

It was also a time for regret for some, as they may have, for the first time, really considered what pressure they had put the man under, and how much they had unnecessarily hassled him. It was put nicely by Jackson’s brother Marlon - “We will never, never, understand what he endured. How much pain can one take? Maybe now, Michael, they will leave you alone”.

The services held were a fitting way to celebrate the life of Michael Jackson. They, along with his musical and charitable legacies, will ensure that he continues to live on in the minds of millions of people around the world.
